Sad Day

Today my bicycle was stolen from campus. I locked it up, and two hours later it was gone. Not only is this situation majorly inconvenient, but it bums me out for other reasons. I have been borrowing the bike from my mom to get to and from campus the past couple years. Because it is her bike, I feel sort of sentimental about it. When I was hit by a car last year, my bike escaped unscathed; it's hard to believe a couple of guys with some hedge clippers could take it down. It weirds me out to imagine someone riding my bike away from the scene of the crime. I'm mostly upset that there are people who do stuff like this. No, it's not hard crime; these guys aren't rapists or kidnappers, but it still baffles me that there are individuals (probably other students) who make the choice to profit off another person's loss.

So, here is how I am going to think about this loss. My positive spin on the situation is that there is evil and meanness in the world. There are also good people to counter that evil. Right now I feel inspired to try to counter as much evil as possible. I want people to be able to look at me and see someone that is warm and kind, someone that is an example of what evil can't steal.

  1. Ugh, what awful news :( I hope that your bike is recovered. And just know that karma will bite the bike stealers in the heiney some day!

  2. Ditto Abby. Ari I am so sorry! That is so awful! I just rode a bike down to this adorable restaurant, apparently everyone in Denver bikes everywhere! So sorry sweetie, but you are right. There IS evil in this world. But you have a fantastic outlook. xo

  3. Think positive, too, about the fact that 'what goes around, comes around'!!! My grandma used to say that all the time, and the Bible agrees!! (You reap what you sow!) There's no getting away from it! So you just keep being the warm and loving person you are. Let the other situation take care of itself. Sorry though. :-(

  5. *Hugs* So sad how people have no respect for other people's property. But as Poetess said above, what goes around, comes around. Take care sweetie
