I don't really get any personal mail. My mailbox isn't filled with bills (I'm every bit the virtual banker), but I do get an alarming amount of junk mail. In fact, I only check my mail on the days I know I'm due some Netflix. I have absolutely loved the rare days when I've received something addressed to me, not "current resident", that was not in a red envelope or from an Amazon.com return address.
When I moved into my very first apartment, I sent out an e-mail with my new address. A couple days later there were two hand-addressed envelopes in my new mailbox. One was from B and the other from Robert. B's was filled with advice about being a fabulous woman living by her fabulous self, a topic on which B is well-versed. Robert's described the thrill of receiving a handwritten letter from a cherished friend, something that I intend to bring back.
Like I said, I don't get enough good mail. & I'm sure there are dozens of people in my life who could say the same. People who would love to see, upon peering inside their mailbox, a colorful note from me atop their credit card statement.
