Tradition

Thanksgiving and I haven't always gotten along so well. When I was younger, I absolutely hated Thanksgiving. I thought it was the most boring day ever {aside from Easter, obvs.} No stores are open, everyone is napping, your friends can't hang out because they are "bonding" with family. It's safe to say I was quite the Chandler when it came to Thanksgiving. I use the past tense here, because awhile ago I decided to steal boring ol' Thanksgiving & make it my own.

One year I invited myself to as many dinners as I could & then ate my way through them all. Another year I spent the day with my best friend's family eating leftover Chinese food & watching The X-Files on VHS. 2008 was spent eating challah bread and goldfish crackers in bed. Last year's was about as traditional as I've been: Bridgette made mashed potatoes and green bean casserole & we watched all the Thanksgiving episodes of Friends and Will & Grace

This year I will be driving to California with my mom & brother to spend the day with extended family. I'm a little bit bummed that this year's will be so terribly typical. You know what, though? It's really non-traditional for me

I will report back.
