I live in an apartment, which is something that I used to think would be much worse than it has actually turned out to be. For the most part, I do not have loud neighbors. I haven't seen a single pest in my current unit. The parking lot isn't too far to lug in grocery bags. On the whole, I don't mind apartment living.
One negative, though, is that it can feel a tad impersonal at times. I don't know if it's because the people in my complex are renters, or maybe it's that they are mostly college students, but it's unusual to see any personal touches in front of the units. Some people don't even bother to take down the take-out menus taped to their doors or remove the phone books piled up out front. I keep my porch very clean, but there's nothing out there except Noah's red bicycle.
I've been contemplating making a wreath to hang on the door, something pretty to greet me as I return home, something that marks our apartment as "cared for".
As always, my favorite bloggers have provided more than enough inspiration.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. Any of these would look great on a front door. Years ago when my husband and I first got married I decorated our door like that and it really made it feel like "home" and looked pretty also. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment on my blog. It was very much appreciated.
