October Weekend

I hope everyone had a good first weekend of October! I certainly did. I decided to make it a three-day weekend and take a PTO day on Friday. It was heaven. I was torn between making Friday a "getting things done" day or a "do only what you want" day. Can you guess which one I chose? I started the day with a delicious Farmer Sandwich from Liberty Market, and it was all uphill from there. Even if I'm the only gal who thinks a Friends marathon constitutes an excellent Friday night, I'm okay with that. :)

I woke up early on Saturday morning to help out at a car wash hosted by my favorite animal rescue organization. My arms were sure sore from sign-holding, but it made me feel so good when nice people would pull into the lot to support AZ RESCUE. We raised $1,400! Definitely a success, in my book.

Saturday was definitely a cat-heavy day (the best kind, really), because I spent that evening at the cat shelter. We just rescued some kittens, and I want to adopt every single one of them. Nothing in the world is better than kittens.

On Sunday, I got up around 6:30am to take a walk around my neighborhood. I walked up to the local high school to check out their tennis courts for future excursions. It was so nice to be up early and soak in the great weather. Then, I headed over to this lady's house to help her get organized for the big move to Manhattan. We went through a few CDs and DVDs and spent the rest of the time smiling and laughing over the wonderful memories and mementos she's collected over the past 25 years. It was such a joy to spend one of her last weekends in AZ this way.

But, now it's Wednesday. & I'm in training for an internship with another department at my job. It's exhausting work, but I love learning new things.
