The New Hair Tie

For years and years now, you could never find me without a black hair tie around my right wrist. Even in my high school dance pictures and senior pictures, the ubiquitous black band was present and accounted for. On the rare handful of days that I left the house without it, I felt totally naked, almost worse than leaving the beloved iPhone at home (gasp!)

Let's be honest, though. Regular old hair ties aren't so cute in my hair, let alone of my wrist like a poor man's bracelet. Enter May's Birchbox.

When I opened that cherished box last week I was greeted by a slightly shiny, baby blue twistband. I have no problem telling you that it hasn't left my wrist since. I even shower with it, which isn't a problem because it dries really quickly. The best part is that it doesn't leave a huge dent in my hair from the janky top knot that takes up residence at the top of my head around 4 p.m.

I like these beauties from Anthro even better:

Leave it to Anthropologie to make something as boring as a hair tie one of the most prominent pins on my Pinterest homepage. I need one in every color.

  1. Haha too funny! I love Twistbands too! Etsy had about a million shops that sell really fun ones! I know a lot of people like the EmiJay brand! They are definitely an improvement from the black hair tie that I also used to always have on my wrist!

  3. Hi, babes.
I'm not dead. I was just taking a MUCH NEEDED breather.
I promised myself if I ever started to see blogging as a chore/job rather than a fun hobby, then I needed a break.
But, OMG love being missed. Haha.

Okay, so on to this post. As I type right now, I have.... a black hair band around my right wrist. Haha. I actually got one of those hair ties in one of my very first Birchboxes, and I obsessed over it and wore it all the time...until the edges started to fray REALLY bad.

I think there are a bunch of DIYs online to make your own...that's what I might end up doing.
